AimAdt Platform Availability

To specify the platforms on which AimAdt can run, we need to break it into two component groups: the pure Java group, which  consists of the Java interface and the stand-alone viewer application, and the C/C++ interface group, which consists of the platform dependent C/C++ interface library files.

Pure Java Components:

The pure Java components should run as is on any system that supports the Java 2 runtime, version 1.4.2 or later. It has been run on the following platforms without problems:

  • Windows 98SE, Java 1.4.2
  • Windows XP, Java 1.4.2 and 1.5
  • SUSE (Novell) Linux 9.2,  Java 1.4.2

Platform Dependent Components:

The C/C++ interface component requires an interface library file tailored for each platform on which it is used. Interface library files are available for and have been tested on the following platforms:

  • Windows XP, using Windows Visual Studio C/C++  V6 & .NET,
using the Sun Java SDK 1.4.2.
  • SUSE Linux 9.2, using gcc 3.3.4 and the Sun Java SDK 1.4.2.

The C/C++ interface components have been used with command line (console) programs on all of the above systems. Light testing with Windows GUI programs has been performed. If you have a special situation that we have not yet tested (e.g. Motif), just download the trial edition of AimAdt and try it out to be sure it works with your code. And be sure to let us know if you have any problems.
